A perfect martini is one with half sweet vermouth and half dry vermouth: “perfect” is a type of martini, not a description of the martini. A dry martini is one with dry vermouth, so asking for a martini to be “very dry” should mean that it has extra dry vermouth, not less dry vermouth, but I mostly hear it to mean the opposite.
An entrée, by definition, should be the food eaten as the entry to the main course, not the main course. Was this originally a way of suggesting that you’re not going to have a meal, only an entree? Having an appetizer and then an entree, linguistically, is all preparation for the meal and therefore shouldn’t deserve a dessert.
Red is historically the color of the communists and socialists, and blue was historically the color of those who supported a republic over a monarchy, so red should be the color for democrats and blue for republicans.
“I can help who’s next” is grammatically puzzling, but mellifluous: such rhythm! It seems to be winning the customer-service-phrases natural selection for people who have to say the same thing hundreds of times a day.
